For physiotherapy practices

Music for your physiotherapy practice. Rhythm in the exercise room, calm in the treatment room

Looking for background music for your physiotherapy practice? RadioMatic gives you your own station for the exercise room, the treatment rooms and the waiting area, for one amount per location. Because RadioMatic makes the music with AI, you pay nothing to Buma/Stemra and Sena.

You easily pay

€ 2,111

a year to Buma/Stemra and Sena

If you play music by human makers in your business, this bill is compulsory. The amount is the base rate for the worked example below, and your music subscription comes on top of it.

With RadioMatic you pay

€ 29.99

per location per month, billed yearly

No second bill. A presenter, news and your own adverts if you want.

The Starter plan, excluding VAT. Because RadioMatic makes the music with AI, you pay nothing to Buma/Stemra and Sena. So this is the whole amount. Unlimited presenters, your own adverts and your own voice: Professional, € 79.99 per location per month.

Fourteen days free to try. Monthly billing is available and costs 20% more, and only then can you cancel monthly. You hear back within one working day, and after that your station is live in under ten minutes.

What else you get

A physiotherapy practice has two sides. In the exercise room people cycle, lift and step, and music with a steady rhythm helps there. In the treatment room someone lies on the table with a painful back or a knee after surgery, and it should stay calm. An ordinary radio station cannot tell the two apart. With RadioMatic you can create as many stations as you like, so the exercise room and the treatment rooms each get a sound that fits them, from the same dashboard.

Between the tracks you play whatever you type in. That there is room again in the Tuesday morning exercise group for older people, that patients can come to you without a GP referral, or that December is the time to check their supplementary insurance. A presenter turns it into a DJ moment, and on the hour you can add national or local news. All of that is already in Starter. With Professional your announcements play in your own voice and you make as many of your own jingles and promotions as you like. Third-party advertising never comes in between, so the gym around the corner does not advertise in your exercise room.

You and your colleagues spend all day in that room. New music arrives every day in the same style, and the tracks that land well come back as your own hits. Someone coming in twice a week for three months of rehab does not hear the same playlist every time. Every track is checked with audio fingerprinting, the way Shazam works, and with our own software.

What does music in your physiotherapy practice cost? Three licences side by side

If you play music by human creators, the calculator on mijnlicentie.nl charges a physiotherapy practice in three parts. The waiting area goes on floor area. The treatment rooms go per room, under the Sena table “Medische behandelruimte” (medical treatment room). That table only applies if your profession is in the BIG register, and physiotherapists are. The exercise room is a separate space, again on floor area. In that calculator Buma/Stemra charges each of the three separately, each in the lowest band.

For the exercise room you make one choice in the calculator. You state whether the room is for your own use or offered as a gym membership, and each has its own tariff. The example uses own use, a room where your own patients exercise under supervision. If people with a separate membership also train there, as with medical fitness, the other option applies. If you are unsure where your room belongs, ask in writing and keep the answer.

We checked the amount for the example in the calculator on mijnlicentie.nl, and our breakdown matches it to the cent. With RadioMatic that whole amount falls away, because RadioMatic makes the music with AI. Buma/Stemra itself states that works made entirely by AI without a human creative contribution do not qualify for copyright or payment. The same applies to Sena. The law requires a phonogram released for commercial purposes, and on that ground Sena lost in court in 2025. The full reasoning is in our legal memorandum.

The example is a waiting area of 25 m², three treatment rooms of 36 m² in total and an exercise room of 60 m² for own use.
Sena, waiting room per m²€ 323
Sena, three treatment rooms each€ 611
Sena, exercise room per m²€ 323
Buma/Stemra, per type of room€ 854
Together per year€ 2,111

Sources: Sena, 2026 tariff overview, the table “Medische behandelruimte”, € 160.94 base per treatment room per year, with the RAAP-PPI surcharge of 26.6% on all Sena amounts. For the waiting area and for the exercise room for own use the calculator charges € 255.29 base each, up to and including 100 m². Buma/Stemra, mechanical background music, BUM.413.26/01, category B up to and including 100 m², € 284.54 a year. Physiotherapist is a profession under article 3 of the BIG Act. On 24 September 2026 the calculator on mijnlicentie.nl gave a base tariff of € 2,111.26 per year for the example, € 1,407.58 after the discount of 33.33% and € 1,527.09 including VAT. Read how the rules for a waiting room work exactly

The exercise room wants rhythm, the treatment room wants calm

In the exercise room music does real work. Someone doing ten minutes on the exercise bike or a set of squats keeps going longer with a steady beat under the exercise. A medium tempo suits most people. Not too fast for someone with a new hip, and not so slow that the footballer with a sprained ankle nods off. What gets in the way are tracks that suddenly stop or change tempo, because then people lose count.

In the treatment room it is the other way round. Someone lies on the table talking about pain, poor sleep or fear of moving again. The music stays underneath that conversation, so softer, slower and without vocals that ask for attention. Many practices have treatment rooms with thin walls or only a curtain between two tables. Even music then means the conversation on the other side cannot be followed word for word.

The waiting area is often attached to the exercise room or runs into it. There the sound of the room can carry through more softly, with your own announcements in between. It changes by time of day on its own. If you run an exercise group for older people in the morning and training for injured athletes in the evening, you set up a station for each block.

On the speakers already there

You do not need to buy anything. RadioMatic plays on a Sonos, through Chromecast, in a browser on the PC at the front desk or through line-in on the amplifier in the exercise room. If the music now plays from a colleague’s phone, you put the station on a fixed tablet or PC. Then nobody’s own playlist or notification suddenly comes through the room.

The exercise room, the treatment rooms and the waiting area each get a station, and you run them all from one dashboard. With music by human creators that is exactly what costs money, because Buma/Stemra charges per room as soon as different music plays. With us it is a slider. You hear back on your request within one working day, and after that your station is live in under ten minutes. The first fourteen days are free.

What you can choose from today

Look for music for your physiotherapy practice and you find a few parties that serve healthcare separately. Synerplay has a healthcare page that names physiotherapy. Zorg & Muziek (care and music), the healthcare arm of BCM Stream, has individual subscriptions for healthcare professionals. Fys’Optima arranges the Buma/Stemra and Sena licences for affiliated practices, and according to its own site adds an extra 10% discount on the invoice.

In every case you play music by human creators, and the Buma/Stemra and Sena bills remain, even when they run through another party. What that costs is set out above. What applies to every kind of healthcare practice is on music for your practice.

With RadioMatic your exercise room gets music with a steady rhythm your patients can keep training to, while the treatment room stays calm and soft. In the waiting area people hear between the tracks when the next exercise group starts. No third-party advertising comes in between, and if you have more than one location, you run them all from one account.

Why RadioMatic is something other than a playlist or the radio

A business owner who wants music on the premises usually picks from three things. A playlist from a streaming service, an ordinary radio station, or a royalty-free music package. This is where they differ.

  • New music every day

The station keeps getting new tracks in the same style, because the music is generated rather than drawn from a fixed list. A track that lands well with your audience comes round more often, and then it is your hit. It was made for your station and plays nowhere else.

  • It names your business

Between the tracks, DJ voices announce what is going on at your place. Your offer, your opening hours, this week’s deal. That used to need a studio and a voice actor.

  • It moves with the day

The morning, the rush and the last hour each call for something different. That is set per part of the day and happens by itself, with nobody behind the counter picking a new list.

  • Local news if you want it

A short bulletin on the hour about your own town, with the weather and the traffic alongside. You choose which subjects you want, or you switch it off entirely.

  • No one else’s advertising

On an ordinary station the business down the road advertises in between your tracks. With us, nothing comes in between that is not yours.

  • Every location from one screen

Each site keeps its own mood, its own promotions and its own opening hours, and you run them all from the same place.

A playlist is worn out within two weeks, and on an ordinary station the business down the road advertises in between your tracks. With us the station is yours. Your style, your announcements, and the tracks that land with your audience come round more often.
