What else you get
At the desk of a GP practice the practice assistant asks what the problem is, and the patient names it. A lump, a rash, something nobody likes to say out loud. The waiting room is often a few metres away and listens in, whether it wants to or not. With RadioMatic that room gets a station with even music that makes such a conversation harder to follow. What does music in your GP practice cost? Waiting room and treatment room separately
If you play music by human creators, Sena sends you two licences that run separately. You pay for the waiting room on floor area and for the treatment room per room. The Buma/Stemra bill comes on top of that. You can see this in the calculator on mijnlicentie.nl itself. If you choose a practice there, it asks only for square metres under “Muziek in de wachtruimte” (music in the waiting room) and for square metres and the number of rooms under “Muziek in de behandelruimte” (music in the treatment room). For physiotherapists, midwives and other healthcare practices it is set out on music for your practice.
For the treatment room the Sena table “Medische behandelruimte” (medical treatment room) applies. It sets one condition, that your professional group is in the BIG register. A GP is registered there as a doctor, so for you that is not in question. Sena charges per treatment room in which music plays. A consulting room without music therefore does not count, and in most GP practices nothing plays there anyway.
We checked the amount for the example in the calculator on mijnlicentie.nl on 24 September 2026, and our breakdown matches it to the cent. Buma/Stemra itself states that works made entirely by AI without a human creative contribution do not qualify for copyright or payment. The same applies to Sena. What music suits a GP’s waiting room?
In a GP’s waiting room everyone sits together. A mother with a child who has a fever, someone of eighty in for a check-up, someone nervous about a result. What suits that room is music that fills the silence without asking for attention. A calm tempo, no heavy bass, no sudden jumps in volume and no silences between the tracks in which the conversation at the desk suddenly becomes easy to hear. A chart station does exactly the opposite, with ad breaks, jingles and lyrics that demand attention.
More happens at the desk than checking in. The practice assistant asks follow-up questions to decide how soon someone needs to be seen, and calls patients back in between with a result or advice. All of those conversations are about things not meant for the waiting room. Music does not replace a well-designed desk or a separate room for calls. Even sound at a soft level does make a conversation a few metres away harder to follow, and that is a simple step you can take tomorrow.
Music does not belong in the consulting room. There you listen to a heart, ask questions, and someone tells you things they tell nobody else. In the treatment room, where the practice assistant or practice nurse takes a smear, dresses a wound or syringes ears, soft music makes the silence less bare. There you switch off everything that speaks and keep only calm music. Third-party advertising never comes in between with us in any case.
It runs on the equipment already in place
You do not have to buy anything.
