Music for your veterinary practice, without Buma and Sena
Looking for music for the waiting room of your veterinary practice or animal clinic? RadioMatic gives you a station with calm music for a room full of dogs, cats and their owners, with your own announcements in between. Because RadioMatic makes the music with AI, you pay nothing to Buma/Stemra and Sena.
You easily pay
€ 608
a year to Buma/Stemra and Sena
If you play music by human makers in your business, this bill is compulsory. The amount is the base rate for the worked example below, and your music subscription comes on top of it.
Work out what you pay nowWith RadioMatic you pay
€ 29.99
per location per month, billed yearly
No second bill. A presenter, news and your own adverts if you want.
The Starter plan, excluding VAT. Because RadioMatic makes the music with AI, you pay nothing to Buma/Stemra and Sena. So this is the whole amount. Unlimited presenters, your own adverts and your own voice: Professional, € 79.99 per location per month.
Fourteen days free to try. Monthly billing is available and costs 20% more, and only then can you cancel monthly. You hear back within one working day, and after that your station is live in under ten minutes.
What else you get
In a vet’s waiting room a dog that barks sits next to a cat trembling in its carrier, and an owner who is worried. That is no place for a chart station with jingles and ad breaks. With RadioMatic you get a station for your practice with calm, even music and no sudden jumps in volume. New music is added every day, and the tracks that suit your practice come back as your own hits.
Between the tracks you play what now hangs on the poster by the desk. That the annual vaccination is due, that tick season is starting, that owners of a dog afraid of fireworks should ask for advice in good time, or that the prescription diet can also be ordered through the web shop. You type it in, and the presenter says it in the next round. News can be added, national or from your own region, on topics you choose. If you want only music, you switch off everything that speaks.
Third-party advertising never comes in between. Your retail corner holds the food and products your practice stands behind, and no commercial comes on for a brand you have chosen not to sell. It is all in Starter, € 29.99 per location per month paid yearly: your own station, the presenter, the news, your own announcements and jingles. Professional, € 79.99 per location per month, gives you unlimited presenters and announcements, and announcements in your own voice.
Which tariff applies to your veterinary practice at Buma and Sena?
The word vet does not appear in the Buma/Stemra tariffs. What does appear is a kind of space. The closed list for category B names “wachtruimten zonder horecavoorziening” (waiting rooms without a hospitality facility) word for word, and shops as well. Your waiting room with its retail corner for pet food therefore falls into category B. If the same music from the same source plays in both, the floor areas are added together. Which category a consulting or treatment room falls into is not stated.
At Sena it is more complicated. For treatment rooms in healthcare Sena has its own table, “Medische behandelruimte” (medical treatment room), but it applies only if your professional group is in the BIG register. A vet is registered in the Diergeneeskunderegister, the Dutch veterinary register, and not in the BIG register, so that table is not for you. Which table does apply to music in your treatment rooms, Sena does not say anywhere. For the waiting room the calculator on mijnlicentie.nl charges by the square metre, at the amounts of the table “Overige ruimtes” (other spaces). That is the only table in the Sena overview without an explanatory note. If you want certainty, put your situation to Sena and ask for an answer on paper.
That is why the example covers only the waiting room with the retail corner, and no music in the consulting and treatment rooms. In the calculator on mijnlicentie.nl, under Praktijk (practice) and Muziek in de wachtruimte (music in the waiting room), it came to the same amount on 24 September 2026. Vets are not named in that list.
With RadioMatic you pay nothing to Buma/Stemra or Sena, because RadioMatic makes the music with AI. Buma/Stemra itself states that works made entirely by AI without a human creative contribution do not qualify for copyright or payment. The same applies to Sena. The law requires a phonogram released for commercial purposes, and on that ground Sena lost in court in 2025. The full reasoning is in our legal memorandum.

Article 7 of BUM.129 is a closed list for category B in which shops and waiting rooms without a hospitality facility are named word for word. Article 8 provides that floor areas are added together when the same music from the same source plays in different spaces. For 60 m² that is € 284.54 at Buma/Stemra and € 255.29 base at Sena, € 323.20 with the RAAP-PPI surcharge of 26.6%. According to Sena’s note, the table “Medische behandelruimte” applies only if the professional group is in the BIG register. Vets are registered in the Diergeneeskunderegister. On 24 September 2026 the calculator on mijnlicentie.nl gave a base tariff of € 607.74 per year for a waiting room of 60 m², € 405.18 after the discount of 33.33% and € 445.02 including VAT. Amounts per year, Buma/Stemra excluding VAT, Sena exempt from VAT. Details of other providers from their own sites, consulted on 24 September 2026.

Music for a waiting room with dogs, cats and owners
A vet’s waiting room is more restless than a GP’s. Dogs sniff at each other or bark, a cat hisses from its carrier, somewhere a rabbit squeaks. What suits that room is music without heavy bass, without sudden jumps and without busy voices. An even layer at a low volume means a barking dog is not the only sound in the room, without the music having to rise above it.
For owners the wait is often the hardest part. Someone who comes in with a dog that has stopped eating, or with an old cat for the last time, is not there for fun. Calm music gives them something else to listen to than whatever comes from the treatment room. If your clinic has a separate room for saying goodbye, you switch off everything that speaks there, or the music altogether.
A veterinary practice has more than one room, and each room asks for something different. In the waiting room calm music with your own announcements in between, and a little fuller at the desk on a busy Saturday. In the treatment room softer and without talking, so you and your assistant can still hear each other. And in the recovery room, where animals come round after surgery, very soft and even. You decide what plays where.
It runs on the equipment already in place
You do not have to buy anything. RadioMatic is a stream, and it plays on Sonos, through Chromecast, in a browser on the computer behind the desk or through the line-in of an amplifier that is already there. If there are ceiling speakers in the waiting room, they stay where they are and only what comes out of them changes.
You set up the waiting room, the treatment room, the recovery room and the retail corner as separate zones in the same dashboard, each with its own volume, its own mood and its own choice of whether anything is spoken. With music by human makers that costs extra, because as soon as each room plays different music Buma/Stemra charges per room, and Sena does not say anywhere what it charges for a treatment or recovery room at a vet. With us it stays one amount per location, for all zones together. Every track is checked with audio fingerprinting, the technology behind Shazam, and our own software. If your clinic is part of a group with ten or more locations, we put together a tailored proposal. Call Jonathan on +31 50 201 33 07, or message him with the WhatsApp button. You hear back within one working day, and after that your station is live in under ten minutes. The first fourteen days are free.
What you can choose from today
We found no music supplier with a page for vets. Look for music for your practice and you end up with suppliers for healthcare or for shops. Synerplay has a healthcare page for waiting rooms and treatment rooms, and according to that page charges € 312 per year on an annual subscription. That page does not mention vets. For the retail corner there are the suppliers for shops, as on music for your pet shop.
With all of these services you play music by human creators, and that brings Buma/Stemra and Sena with it. Synerplay says itself that you pay those two licences directly to the rights organisations. What that costs is set out above.
With RadioMatic every room in your practice plays the music that fits: calm in the waiting room with your own announcements about vaccinations, tick season or fear of fireworks, softer in the treatment room, and very soft in the recovery room. The retail corner never gets adverts for another brand of pet food. With more locations, you run them all from one account.
Why RadioMatic is something other than a playlist or the radio
A business owner who wants music on the premises usually picks from three things. A playlist from a streaming service, an ordinary radio station, or a royalty-free music package. This is where they differ.
| Playlist | Ordinary radio | Royalty-free | RadioMatic | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| New music | Fixed list | Yes, but not your choice | Limited catalogue | New every day |
| Music that is yours alone | No | No | No | Yes, your own hits |
| Fits the time of day | Switch it yourself | No | Switch it yourself | Automatic |
| Names your business | No | No | No | Yes |
| Your own offers | No | Only if you buy advertising | No | Yes, with no studio |
| Local news and weather | No | Yes, the station’s | No | Yes, your town, your choice of topics |
| Other people’s adverts | No | Yes | No | No |
| Buma/Stemra and Sena | Payable | Payable | See the terms | Not payable |
New music every day
The station keeps getting new tracks in the same style, because the music is generated rather than drawn from a fixed list. A track that lands well with your audience comes round more often, and then it is your hit. It was made for your station and plays nowhere else.
It names your business
Between the tracks, DJ voices announce what is going on at your place. Your offer, your opening hours, this week’s deal. That used to need a studio and a voice actor.
It moves with the day
The morning, the rush and the last hour each call for something different. That is set per part of the day and happens by itself, with nobody behind the counter picking a new list.
Local news if you want it
A short bulletin on the hour about your own town, with the weather and the traffic alongside. You choose which subjects you want, or you switch it off entirely.
No one else’s advertising
On an ordinary station the business down the road advertises in between your tracks. With us, nothing comes in between that is not yours.
Every location from one screen
Each site keeps its own mood, its own promotions and its own opening hours, and you run them all from the same place.
A playlist is worn out within two weeks, and on an ordinary station the business down the road advertises in between your tracks. With us the station is yours. Your style, your announcements, and the tracks that land with your audience come round more often.
