No adverts for other brands Third-party advertising never comes in between. Your retail corner holds the food and products your practice stands behind, and no commercial comes on for a brand you have chosen not to sell. Starter, € 29.99 per location per month, already gives you your own station and the presenter. Professional, € 79.99 per location per month, adds the news and your own announcements and jingles, with unlimited presenters and announcements, and announcements in your own voice.
Which tariff applies to your veterinary practice at Buma and Sena?
No vets in the tariffs The word vet does not appear in the Buma/Stemra tariffs. What does appear is a kind of space. The closed list for category B names “wachtruimten zonder horecavoorziening” (waiting rooms without a hospitality facility) word for word, and shops as well.
Waiting room in category B Your waiting room with its retail corner for pet food therefore falls into category B. If the same music from the same source plays in both, the floor areas are added together. Which category a consulting or treatment room falls into is not stated.
Vets are not BIG registered At Sena it is more complicated. For treatment rooms in healthcare Sena has its own table, “Medische behandelruimte” (medical treatment room), but it applies only if your professional group is in the BIG register. A vet is registered in the Diergeneeskunderegister, the Dutch veterinary register, and not in the BIG register, so that table is not for you.
Unclear which table applies Which table does apply to music in your treatment rooms, Sena does not say anywhere. For the waiting room the calculator on mijnlicentie.nl charges by the square metre, at the amounts of the table “Overige ruimtes” (other spaces). Sena does not explain which businesses that table is meant for. If you want certainty, put your situation to Sena and ask for an answer on paper.
Only the waiting room counted That is why the example covers only the waiting room with the retail corner, and no music in the consulting and treatment rooms. We checked that amount on 24 September 2026 in the calculator on mijnlicentie.nl, under Praktijk (practice) and Muziek in de wachtruimte (music in the waiting room), and came to the same figure. Vets are not named in that list.
No fees for AI-made music With RadioMatic you pay nothing to Buma/Stemra or Sena, because the music is made entirely with AI. Buma/Stemra itself says that music made entirely by AI, without a creative contribution from a person, does not qualify for copyright or payment. The same applies to Sena.
What the law and the court say Sena can only collect for a recording that has been commercially released, and on that ground Sena lost in court in 2025. The full reasoning is in our legal memorandum.

On 24 September 2026 the calculator on mijnlicentie.nl gave a base tariff of € 607.74 per year for a waiting room of 60 m², € 405.18 after the discount of 33.33% and € 445.02 including VAT. Music for a waiting room with dogs, cats and owners
No heavy bass, no sudden jumps A vet’s waiting room is more restless than a GP’s. Dogs sniff at each other or bark, a cat hisses from its carrier, somewhere a rabbit squeaks. What suits that room is music without heavy bass, without sudden jumps and without busy voices. An even layer at a low volume means a barking dog is not the only sound in the room, without the music having to rise above it.
Room for worry and goodbyes For owners the wait is often the hardest part. Someone who comes in with a dog that has stopped eating, or with an old cat for the last time, is not there for fun. Calm music gives them something else to listen to than whatever comes from the treatment room. If your clinic has a separate room for saying goodbye, you switch off everything that speaks there, or the music altogether.
Every room its own sound A veterinary practice has more than one room, and each room asks for something different. In the waiting room calm music with your own announcements in between, and a little fuller at the desk on a busy Saturday. In the treatment room softer and without talking, so you and your assistant can still hear each other. And in the recovery room, where animals come round after surgery, very soft and even. What you can choose from today
No supplier for vets We found no music supplier with a page for vets. Look for music for your practice and you end up with suppliers for healthcare or for shops. Synerplay has a healthcare page for waiting rooms and treatment rooms, and according to that page charges € 312 per year on an annual subscription. That page does not mention vets. For the retail corner there are the suppliers for shops, as on music for your pet shop.
Rights are paid separately With all of these services you play music by human creators, and that brings Buma/Stemra and Sena with it. Synerplay says itself that you pay those two licences directly to the rights organisations. What that costs is set out above.
